NDA Names Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan as Vice President Candidate

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday announced Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan as the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate for the upcoming Vice-President election set for 9 September. His name was finalised at the BJP Parliamentary Board meeting in New Delhi. The alliance had earlier authorised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Party President JP Nadda to select the nominee. With this announcement, Radhakrishnan is set to be the NDA’s official choice for the post.

Radhakrishnan’s Political Career

CP Radhakrishnan has held multiple responsibilities during his long career in public service. He has served as a Member of Parliament and as the Governor of Maharashtra, Jharkhand, and Telangana. Known for his grassroots work in Tamil Nadu, he has consistently focused on community development and welfare. Prime Minister Modi described him as a leader with humility and vast experience, expressing confidence that he will serve as an effective and inspiring Vice-President.
