TMC MP Mahua Moitra on Sunday hit back at an FIR filed against her in Chhattisgarh over her remarks on Home Minister Amit Shah. She defended her statement as an idiom, saying, “Idiots don’t get idioms.” She criticised the police for acting on what she called a misleading complaint and said her words were taken out of context. She also raised concerns about the handling of migrant Bengali workers in the area, alleging that the FIR misrepresented her comments and relied on incorrect translations.
Moitra Calls FIR Misleading
The Krishnanagar MP clarified that her ‘matha kete table-e‘ remark differs from what the FIR stated. She accused authorities of relying on mistranslations and welcomed the court’s intervention, which led the local SP to withdraw the case.
