Shibu Soren, a senior political leader and former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, died at the age of 81. He passed away on Sunday morning in Delhi, where he was receiving treatment for kidney-related health problems. He had been unwell for a long time and was on life support for several weeks. His son, Hemant Soren, who is the current Chief Minister, shared the news of his father’s death and called him ‘Dishom Guruji’, saying he had suffered a personal loss beyond words.

Former Jharkhand CM passes away
Shibu Soren was a key figure in the fight for Jharkhand’s statehood and a strong voice for tribal rights. He headed the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) for more than 30 years and served as Jharkhand’s Chief Minister three times. Soren also held a key position in the central government. Widely known as ‘Dishom Guruji’, he was respected by leaders across political parties. The hospital said he died at 8.56 a.m. due to prolonged illness and kidney complications.
