India’s Test captain Shubman Gill has reached a notable milestone by becoming the first male cricketer to win the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award four times. He achieved this landmark in July 2025 following an exceptional Test series in England, where he scored 567 runs in three matches at an impressive average of 94.50. His stellar show featured a double century in Birmingham along with other crucial innings. He had earlier won the award in January 2023, September 2023, and February 2025.
Gill Creates History
The July 2025 award was decided through votes from an ICC expert panel and cricket fans. In the Anderson–Tendulkar Trophy, Gill scored 269, 161, and 103, among other valuable contributions. He said the award was special as it came during his first series as captain. Among Indian players, Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer have won it twice, while Virat Kohli, R. Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Rishabh Pant have each won it once.
