It’s no secret that Samajwadi Party MP and veteran actress Jaya Bachchan dislikes taking selfies and is often seen expressing her displeasure when paparazzi or fans invade her space. A similar incident unfolded recently at the Constitution Club in Delhi, where she was caught on camera pushing and scolding a man who attempted to click a selfie with her. Jaya was in conversation with someone when the man came uncomfortably close to take the picture. Visibly annoyed, she shoved him away and snapped, “What is this?” The man, taken aback, quickly apologised.

Jaya Bachchan has often expressed her dislike for people invading her personal space. In a 2022 podcast with her granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda, she said she ‘despises’ such behaviour and finds it disrespectful. She also stated that criticism of her blunt reactions does not bother her, as she believes everyone deserves privacy. Several past incidents show her confronting people for taking photos without permission, even during sensitive occasions.
