On the first day of the second Test of the India vs England match, six England batsmen were dismissed without scoring any runs. This equals the Test record for the most number of players dismissed for zero in an innings. This is only the ninth time in Test history that six players have been dismissed for zero in an innings. The last time this happened was in 2024 when India faced South Africa in Cape Town.

England’s Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Ben Stokes, Brydon Carse, Josh Tongue and Shoaib Bashir were all dismissed for zero, but the team still scored 407 runs in their first innings. Mohammad Siraj took the highest 6 wickets for 70 runs and Akash Deep supported him by taking four wickets.
Jamie Smith and Harry Brook brought England back with a 303-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Smith was dismissed for 184 runs and Brook for 158 runs. This is the second-highest six-wicket partnership in England Test cricket.
