All Gujarat Ministers Resign Ahead of Cabinet Expansion, CM Patel Stays

Gujarat

All Gujarat ministers, except Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, tendered their resignations on Thursday ahead of the anticipated cabinet expansion scheduled for Friday. The current cabinet, led by Patel, comprises 17 members, of whom eight hold cabinet-rank positions and the remaining serve as Ministers of State (MoS).

Gujarat Cabinet Expansion Plans

Gujarat’s 182-member legislative assembly allows a maximum of 27 ministers, which is 15 percent of the total strength. Sources indicate that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government under CM Patel plans to induct around 10 new ministers during the upcoming reshuffle. Nearly half of the current ministers may be replaced, signalling a major restructuring within the state cabinet.

The expansion aims to balance regional representation and political priorities while strengthening administrative efficiency. This strategic move marks a significant development in the state’s political landscape, with CM Patel retaining leadership and overseeing the cabinet reorganisation.
