Nitish Kumar

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday submitted his resignation to Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, paving the way for him to take oath for a record 10th term on 20 November. His resignation follows the NDA’s sweeping victory in the recently concluded assembly elections, where the coalition secured more than 200 out of 243 seats.

The BJP emerged as the largest party with 89 seats, while the JD(U) secured 85, and smaller allies, including the LJP(RV), HAM, and RLM, added 28 seats collectively.

Nitish Kumar Cabinet Plans

JD(U) working president Sanjay Kumar Jha, after discussions with senior BJP leaders, confirmed that the new NDA government will be formed shortly.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend the grand swearing-in ceremony at Gandhi Maidan. The JD(U) also aims for greater cabinet representation this term, reflecting its increased legislative strength. Meanwhile, the opposition RJD is struggling with internal family disputes following its electoral defeat.
