US Arrests Indian-Origin Student for Alleged Arson, Terroristic Threats

A 22-year-old student of Indian descent has been arrested in the United States. The arrest was made on charges of arson and making terroristic threats against family members, according to official records. The individual accused has been identified as Manojh Sai Lella. He is a senior student at the University of Texas at Dallas and was taken into custody by Frisco Police on December 22, 2025.

Indian-origin Student Arrested

He has been charged with arson, as he intended to damage a residence. This offence is classified as a first-degree felony. He also faces a charge of making a terroristic threat against a family or household member, categorised as a Class A misdemeanor.

Police acted after family members reported a mental health episode and alleged threats at his residence. Investigators stated that Lella had allegedly attempted to set fire to his family’s house a few days before his arrest.

Authorities clarified that there is no evidence suggesting any threat to a place of worship. Court records show that his bond was set at USD 100,000 (Rs 83 lakh) for the arson charge. The bond for the terroristic threat charge was set at USD 3,500 (approximately Rs 2.9 lakh). The investigation remains ongoing.
