In a major security operation near the national capital, the Jammu and Kashmir Police recovered 350 kg of ammonium nitrate, two rifles, and timers from Faridabad, Haryana. The recovery followed revelations made by Dr Adil Ahmad Rather, a Kashmiri doctor arrested in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly putting up Jaish-e-Mohammed posters in Srinagar.
Acting on his inputs, police arrested another doctor, Mujammil Shakeel, from Pulwama, who worked at Al-Falah Hospital in Faridabad, where the explosives were stored.
Faridabad Terror Network Uncovered
Faridabad Police Commissioner Satender Kumar Gupta confirmed the seizure, adding that the rifles were not of the AK-47 type. Earlier, an AK-47 rifle and ammunition were found in Rather’s locker at Government Medical College, Anantnag. Both doctors are charged under the Arms Act and the UAPA.
Officials believe this indicates a worrying trend of terror networks recruiting educated professionals. Investigations are underway to determine how such a massive cache was transported undetected near Delhi.
