As India gears up for the five-match Test series against England, all eyes are on newly appointed skipper Shubman Gill. Former India international Dinesh Karthik has weighed in on Gill’s big leap, issuing both a warning and a ray of hope.
Dinesh Karthik warns Shubman Gill
Speaking to Sky Sports Cricket, Karthik said, “I really don’t think he has realized the enormity of what it means to be a Test captain for India, as of now. He is walking into the lion’s den. Coming to England as a cricketing nation is not easy.”
Karthik added that even star-studded teams have faltered in English conditions. However, he did offer some optimism for the young skipper. “Luckily, for Shubman Gill, I think the England bowling attack is a very vulnerable attack. That is the only positive I see.” The series begins June 20 in Leeds, marking a fresh chapter in Indian Test cricket.
