Team India faced a worrying moment on Day 1 of the Lord’s Test in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. Vice-captain Rishabh Pant sustained a finger injury while keeping wickets. The incident occurred in the 34th over. Pant, attempting a sharp dive down the leg side to stop a wide delivery from Jasprit Bumrah, was struck on the tip of his left index finger. He received on-field treatment but exited the game shortly after, visibly in discomfort.
Jurel to replace Pant?
Dhruv Jurel was brought in as a substitute wicketkeeper and impressed with a sharp reflex catch off Ollie Pope. However, cricketing laws prevent him from batting in Pant’s place.
Update: #TeamIndia vice-captain Rishabh Pant got hit on his left index finger.
He is receiving treatment at the moment and under the supervision of the medical team.
Dhruv Jurel is currently keeping wickets in Rishabh’s absence.

The BCCI confirmed that Pant is under medical supervision. However, they did not reveal whether the vice-captain will return for the remainder of the Test. With no official update yet, India may have to finish the match one batter short. This would be a significant setback in such a high-stakes contest.
