China, on December 25, 2025, rejected a Pentagon report accusing it of leveraging reduced border tensions with India. The report also claimed China aimed to undermine US–India relations while deepening defence ties with Pakistan. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said the US report distorted China’s defence policy. He added that it aimed to sow discord and provide a pretext for the US to maintain military supremacy.
Border Situation With India Is Stable
The report flagged China’s claims over Arunachal Pradesh, placing the state alongside Taiwan and maritime disputes in Beijing’s long-term strategy. Lin emphasised that China handles relations with India from a strategic, long-term perspective. He stated that Beijing aims to strengthen communication, enhance trust, and maintain a stable bilateral relationship. He confirmed that the Line of Actual Control (LAC) situation is generally stable and that communication channels between the two countries remain smooth.
Regarding China–Pakistan ties, Defence Ministry spokesperson Zhang Xiaogang condemned the report for misinterpreting China’s policies. He said it exaggerated threats and interfered in internal affairs. China urged the US to stop spreading false narratives and called on it to avoid provoking confrontation in the region.
