Aamir Khan’s ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ released in theaters on June 20 and collected Rs. 11.5 crore on its opening day, as per data from Sacnilk.com. The film, described as a follow-up to the 2007 classic ‘Taare Zameen Par’, received mostly positive reviews from both critics and audiences for its emotional storyline and performances.
Underperforms despite the audience’s positive response
Despite the positive response, Khan’s latest release, ‘ Sitaare Zameen Par’, the Day 1 earnings were slightly lower than Khan’s previous release, ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, which opened at Rs. 11.7 crore in 2022. The film features Genelia Deshmukh along with ten newcomers. Although it received a good response from the audience, its opening day expectations were below expectations. Many in the industry had expected a stronger start, especially since it was seen as a follow-up to the 2007 hit ‘Taare Zameen Par.’ However, initial box office numbers have been modest.
