The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly asked former India captains Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to participate in domestic cricket tournaments like the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Both senior players, who have retired from T20Is and Tests, are currently active only in ODIs. The move aims to ensure they maintain match fitness and form ahead of future international selections.
BCCI’s Message to Kohli and Rohit
According to reports, the BCCI and team management have informed Kohli and Rohit that playing domestic cricket is mandatory to remain eligible for India’s ODI selection. After stepping away from two formats, both stars must prove their fitness and commitment through domestic performances. Rohit has confirmed his availability to the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) for the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
