On Tuesday, US President Donald Trump announced that Iran and Israel had reached a ceasefire agreement, bringing the 12-day war to an end. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had earlier claimed that there was no ‘ceasefire’ agreement, but later thanked the armed forces and said Iran had no interest in more conflict, if Israel stopped its “aggression.” Earlier, he insisted Israel started the war and warned that unless Israeli attacks ended by 4 a.m., Iran would continue to respond.

However, Missile strikes continued even after the ceasefire claim. Four people were killed and six were injured in Israel. Iran said these were its final attacks, ending by 4 a.m. Tehran time. Trump said the ceasefire would fully take effect within 24 hours. He asked both sides to honour the deal. Trump took to his Truth Social platform and wrote, “This is a war that could have gone on for years, and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn’t and never will!” He ended his message as he wrote, “God bless Israel, God bless Iran, God bless the Middle East, God bless the United States of America, and GOD BLESS THE WORLD!” Now, all eyes are on whether the fragile truce will hold.
