Legendary Assamese and Bollywood singer Zubeen Garg has passed away in a tragic accident in Singapore while scuba diving. The 52-year-old singer, who was in Singapore to perform at the North East India Festival on 20 and 21 September, reportedly experienced breathing difficulties underwater. Despite being rescued, given CPR, and rushed to Singapore General Hospital, doctors could not save him. He was declared dead at around 2:30 pm IST.
Zubeen Garg Remembered Forever
Zubeen Garg, celebrated for his soulful voice in songs like Ya Ali from Gangster and Dil Tu Hi Bataa from Krrish 3, was not only a playback singer but also an actor, director, and cultural icon. His sudden death has left Assam and the Indian music fraternity in shock. Leaders, fans, and fellow artists poured in tributes online, remembering him as the “heartbeat of Assam.” He is survived by his wife, designer Garima Saikia Garg.
