Match 36 of IPL 2025 between Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur had an unexpected highlight. A 14-year-old debutant, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who stunned everyone with his confident batting display. Though young and inexperienced, his shots told a different story. Named as an Impact Substitute, Vaibhav scored 34 off 20 balls at an impressive strike rate of 170.

Who is Vaibhav Suryavanshi?

Vaibhav is the youngest player ever to debut in IPL history. Rajasthan Royals picked him up for Rs 1.1 crore in last year’s mega auction, making him the youngest to earn an IPL contract.

Performance

An India U-19 opener, Vaibhav gained attention with a 58-ball century against Australia. He also scored 176 runs at an average of 44 during India’s 2024 Asia Cup campaign. He also holds a remarkable triple century 332 in Bihar’s Randhir Verma U-19 Tournament.
