The incident unfolded just after Kohli reached his hundred, drawing immediate attention from security and resulting in the fan’s detention by local police.

Kohli personally stepped in after learning that Shouvik Murmu had been taken into custody. He contacted officials and urged them to release the young supporter. Following the call, Shouvik was freed, spent a night at a Ranchi hotel, and later returned home.
