The Trump administration is now demanding that all applicants disclose their social media handles from the past five years. This new rule was announced in India by the United States Embassy in India via social media handles. The new measures apply to all visa categories.

Failing to provide accurate information may result in visa denial and affect eligibility for future applications. In a related update, individuals applying for F, M, or J non-immigrant visas must set their social media profiles to public, allowing the American authorities to verify identities more easily.
The United States Embassy in India wrote, “Visa applicants are required to list all social media usernames or handles of every platform they have used from the last 5 years on the DS-160 visa application form.”
