Two hybrid terrorists linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba were arrested during a Cordon and Search Operation in Baskuchan, Shopian, Jammu and Kashmir. Police confirmed the arrests on Thursday. The joint operation was carried out by the Army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF’s 178 Battalion. Security forces observed suspicious movement in an orchard, leading to the capture.
Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist arrested
Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists, Irfan Bashir and Uzair Salam, surrendered without resistance. Authorities say this prevented a likely encounter. Items recovered include two AK-56 rifles, four magazines, 102 bullets, two grenades, pouches, cash, a mobile phone, smartwatch, Aadhaar card, and food items.
An FIR has been registered, and an investigation is ongoing. Earlier, on May 19, t ds were recovered. Police praised the swift coordination of forces. They believe these actions may have prevented a major security threat in the region.
