Two Australian women cricketers participating in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 were allegedly stalked, and one was molested in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The incident occurred on Thursday, two days before Australia’s crucial match against South Africa. The players were walking from the Radisson Blu Hotel to a café when a man on a motorcycle, later identified as Aqeel Khan, followed them.

Australian Cricketers’ Stalking Incident

One cricketer was reportedly touched inappropriately, prompting the duo to contact their team security officer, Danny Simmons, who coordinated local assistance. The Assistant Commissioner of Police, Himani Mishra, recorded statements and registered an FIR under sections 74 and 78 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Aqeel Khan, with prior criminal cases, was apprehended based on the motorcycle number noted by a bystander.

The Australian team, stationed in Indore for a week, had played England the day before and was set to face South Africa next.
