The Girlfriend Trailer: Rashmika Mandanna’s Film Promises Love, Confusion, and Emotional Turmoil

The Girlfriend

After exploring the dark, intense world of vampires in Thamma, Rashmika Mandanna is now diving into a completely different universe — one governed by love, confusion, and emotional turmoil. Her upcoming film, The Girlfriend, promises to take audiences on an emotional rollercoaster. The recently released trailer offers a tantalising glimpse of the story’s tangled romance. Rashmika’s character, Bhooma, faces a pressing question: is she truly in love with her boyfriend, Vikram, or merely with the idea of him?

The Girlfriend Trailer

The trailer, released on Saturday, is directed by Rahul Ravindran and stars Rashmika alongside Dheekshith Shetty. It opens with Bhooma nervously suggesting a “small break” from her relationship, clarifying that she means a real break, not just a pause. The narrative then flashes back to Vikram’s proposal, where he urges, “There’s an auspicious time the day after tomorrow. Let’s get married.” While Vikram is certain Bhooma is the perfect partner, her uncertainty forms the emotional core of the story.

Love, Conflict, and Tension

The trailer captures the highs and lows of young love, with playful moments such as teasing over “you kissed last night” showing the couple’s initial infatuation. The tone soon turns tense, featuring arguments, family conflicts, and growing doubts. Bhooma’s uncertainty adds depth, questioning both her feelings and the very identity of being a “girlfriend.”
