Thalapathy Vijay has officially announced his decision to step away from films, marking the end of an era in Tamil cinema. The actor made the emotional declaration at the grand audio launch of his final film, Jana Nayagan, held in Malaysia in the presence of nearly 90,000 fans. Vijay said he was giving up cinema to stand up for his fans, who have given him unwavering support for over three decades.

Thalapathy Vijay Turns to Politics

Reflecting on his journey, Vijay said he entered cinema hoping to build a small dream, but his fans turned it into a fortress of love and loyalty. He shared that he now wants to dedicate the next 30 to 33 years of his life to public service and politics, following the formation of his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth, will be Vijay’s swansong before his full-time political plunge. The film releases worldwide on January 9, 2026, during Pongal.
