Sri Lanka has declared a state of emergency as deadly floods and landslides triggered by Cyclone Ditwah have killed over 150 people. At least 200 others are still missing, and thousands of homes have been destroyed, forcing more than 78,000 people into relief centres. President Anura Kumara Dissanayake invoked emergency powers to speed up rescue and recovery efforts as torrential rain continues to batter the country.

Sri Lanka Declares Emergency
Thousands of troops, volunteers, and emergency personnel are working to reach isolated communities. Roads blocked by landslides have cut off several villages, while India has sent aid teams to assist. Authorities warn the death toll could rise, as more heavy rain is expected over the weekend, worsening floods and landslides.
