The Sunday afternoon match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals began with RR winning the toss and opting to bat. What caught everyone’s attention was Riyan Parag captaining RR in place of Sanju Samson.
Sanju Samson Suffers Injury
Sanju Samson is not captaining the Rajasthan Royals since he is still recovering from a finger injury for which he underwent surgery last month. He has not been approved for wicketkeeping or fielding and hence will play as an impact player until he is fit.
Riyan Parag Stand-In-Captain
In his absence, Riyan Parag will serve as stand-in captain for the first three matches of the season. He will lead RR in their first match against SRH on March 23, followed by home games against Kolkata Knight Riders on March 26 and Chennai Super Kings on March 30.
