Sonam Raghuvanshi, prime accused in her husband Raja Raghuvanshi’s murder, allegedly paid up to Rs 20 lakh to have him killed, according to media reports. Initially offering Rs 4 lakh, she later raised the amount. She also paid Rs 15,000 in cash to the killers on the spot. The couple had married on May 11 in Indore and were honeymooning in Meghalaya.

They were last heard from on May 23. Raja’s body was found in a gorge on June 2. His gold chain and ring were missing. Sonam Raghuvanshi remained untraceable until June 9, when she surrendered in Uttar Pradesh. Police arrested four others: Akash Rajput, Vishal Chauhan, Anand Kurmi, and Raj Kushwaha, allegedly Sonam’s lover and the mastermind. The three hired men were reportedly Kushwaha’s friends, not professional killers. The murder, planned in Bengaluru and executed in Meghalaya, has shocked the nation. Investigation is ongoing.
