Why is Rishabh Pant Not Included in India’s Australia Tour?

Rishabh Pant

India has announced its T20I and ODI squads for the tour of Australia. Former captain Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will return to India’s ODI team after seven months. Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has been left out of the limited-overs squad as he is still recovering from a fractured toe. His absence is a significant blow to India’s batting lineup.

Rishabh Pant Misses Australia Series

Pant injured his toe during the fourth Test against England in July 2025. He was advised six weeks of rest and consequently missed India’s Asia Cup 2025 campaign and the ongoing home Tests against the West Indies. Pant is expected to return in India’s red-ball series against South Africa starting 14 November. India will start the three-match ODI series against Australia on 19 October, followed by five T20Is.
