Explosion Near Red Fort Leaves 9 Dead
The powerful blast killed 9 people and left several others injured. Investigations identified the car’s owner as Dr Umar Mohammad from Pulwama, linked to a “white-collar” terror module. Sources suggest Umar panicked and detonated the car after investigators arrested Dr Mujammil Shakeel and Dr Adil Rather and seized 2,900 kg of explosives from Faridabad, 50 km from Delhi.
The Delhi Police have lodged a case under UAPA, the Explosives Act, and BNS, with NIA and FSL assisting in the probe. A high alert has been issued across Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Jaipur, Haryana, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh, amid fears of wider terror links.
