Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty and her husband, businessman Raj Kundra, are currently under investigation by the Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in connection with a high-profile financial fraud case. The case involves allegations of causing a loss of Rs 60 crore in a loan-cum-investment deal.
Raj Kundra Blames Demonetisation
During the probe, Raj stated that his electrical and household appliances business suffered heavy losses following demonetisation, making it impossible for him to repay the borrowed amount. He claimed the financial setback was the main reason behind the debt.
Shilpa Shetty was also questioned for nearly four and a half hours. The Bombay High Court has barred the couple from travelling abroad unless they deposit Rs 60 crore, while refusing to lift the Lookout Circular issued against them. The investigation continues, with Kundra expected to be summoned again in the coming weeks.
