Punjab Floods: 29 Dead, 2.56 Lakh Affected in a Month

The flood devastation in Punjab has become one of the worst crises in decades, leaving deep scars on the state. In just one month, the disaster has claimed the lives of 29 people. Pathankot suffered the maximum casualties, and more than 2.56 lakh people have been affected across 12 districts. Tagged as a Punjab natural disaster news highlight, the situation stems from the swollen Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi rivers. These rivers were fed by heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.

Punjab Flood Devastated

The bulletin revealed that over 15,600 people were evacuated, with Gurdaspur (5,549) and Ferozepur (3,321) leading rescues. In total, 1,044 villages have been impacted. Nearly 96,000 hectares of farmland lie submerged, endangering both crops and livestock.

As this one-month devastation unfolds, the NDRF, SDRF, Army, and Punjab Police continue relentless rescue efforts. Their focus remains on ensuring survival amid chaos. The Punjab flood tragedy is a harsh reminder of the power of natural disasters.
