Television actress and stand-up comedian Priya Marathe passed away on August 31, 2025, after a year-long battle with cancer. The 38-year-old was best known for her roles as Varsha Satish Deshpande and Jhumri Balan Singh in Zee TV’s iconic show ‘Pavitra Rishta’, which starred the late Sushant Singh Rajput and Ankita Lokhande.

Priya began her acting career in 2005 with the Marathi serial ‘Ya Sukhano Ya’ on Zee Marathi. Around the same time, she appeared in ‘Char Divas Sasuche’ on Colors Marathi, a show led by veteran actress Rohini Hattangadi. Her versatile performances in both Marathi and Hindi television earned her recognition and a loyal audience.
