President Droupadi Murmu made history on Wednesday by flying in a Rafale fighter jet from the Indian Air Force Station in Ambala, Haryana. She became the first President of India to fly in two fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force. Earlier, in April 2023, she had taken a sortie in a Sukhoi-30 MKI from Tezpur Air Base in Assam, demonstrating her admiration for India’s brave air warriors.

President Droupadi Murmu to Fly in Rafale
President Murmu’s Rafale flight was commanded by Group Captain Amit Gehani of No. 17 Squadron, Golden Arrows. Air Chief Marshal A. P. Singh also flew another Rafale alongside her. Calling the sortie an “unforgettable experience,” she praised the IAF’s dedication and skill. The Rafale, inducted into service in 2020, stands as a symbol of India’s growing defence power and technological strength.
