Piyush Pandey, the Voice of Indian Advertising, Padma Shri Awardee Passes Away at 70

Piyush Pandey, widely hailed as the voice of Indian advertising and a Padma Shri awardee, passed away at the age of 70. He had reportedly been in a coma for about a month. With a career spanning over four decades, Pandey began his journey in 1982 at Ogilvy & Mather India as a trainee account executive and later transitioned into the creative department.

Over the years, he rose to top positions, including National Creative Director, Executive Chairman (India), and Global Chief Creative Officer. His sister, Ila Arun, confirmed his passing: “With a devastated, heartbroken, and lifeless spirit, I am writing to inform you that we have lost our dearest and greatest brother, Piyush Pandey, this morning.”

Pandey shaped India’s advertising landscape with memorable campaigns. He co-created the 2014 Lok Sabha election slogan Abki Baar, Modi Sarkar, Amitabh Bachchan’s polio awareness campaign, and iconic Fevicol ads including Fevicol Bus, Fish, and Sofa. His legendary Fevikwik campaign Todo Nahin, Jodo, Cadbury Dairy Milk’s Kuch Khaas Hai, Ponds’ Googly Woogly Woosh, Vodafone’s ZooZoos and Pug campaigns, and Asian Paints’ Har Ghar Kuch Kehta Hai further cemented his status.
