PCB Files Complaint Against Suryakumar Yadav, ICC Orders Probe Into India Captain

Suryakumar Yadav

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has filed a complaint against India captain Suryakumar Yadav over his comments after India’s win against Pakistan in the Asia Cup on 14 September 2025. The International Cricket Council (ICC) is reviewing the complaint. It relates to remarks made during the post-match presentation and press conference. The ICC may initiate a formal hearing depending on the review. This follows the BCCI’s complaint against Pakistani players Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan for on-field conduct.

ICC Match Referee Notifies BCCI

ICC match referee Richie Richardson sent an email to the Indian team confirming he received two reports from the PCB. The email stated that Yadav’s comments might harm cricket’s image. Richardson added that the captain can either accept the charge or face a hearing. The hearing will include representatives from the ICC, BCCI, PCB, and Suryakumar himself.

What Suryakumar Yadav Said

After the match, Suryakumar Yadav dedicated India’s win to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and praised the armed forces. He said, “It’s a perfect occasion, taking the time out. We stand by the families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. We express our solidarity. I want to dedicate the win to all our armed forces who showed immense bravery. Hope they continue to inspire us all, and we give them more reasons on the ground whenever we get an opportunity to make them smile.”

He also stated that the team avoided post-match handshakes with Pakistani players as per BCCI and government instructions. The PCB claims these comments were political and could affect the neutrality of the game, leading to their complaint with the ICC.
