Pakistan Strengthens Counter-Drone Defences Along LoC After Operation Sindoor

Pakistan

Pakistan has significantly stepped up counter-drone deployments along the Line of Control in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. This comes after it was rattled by Indian strikes during Operation Sindoor. Intelligence inputs indicate fresh installations of counter-unmanned aerial systems opposite the Rawalakot, Kotli, and Bhimber sectors. The move reflects growing concern within the Pakistan Army over a possible Operation Sindoor 2.0.

Pak Strengthens LoC Drone Defences

More than 30 dedicated anti-drone units have reportedly been deployed. These deployments are being carried out under the 12th Infantry Division, based in Murree, and the 23rd Infantry Division, controlling the Kotli–Bhimber axis. The objective is to strengthen airspace surveillance and electronic warfare capabilities close to the LoC. Sector-wise, Rawalakot is handled by the 2nd Azad Kashmir Brigade, Kotli falls under the 3rd Brigade, while Bhimber is managed by the 7th Brigade.

Pakistan has inducted both electronic and kinetic counter-UAS systems. These include the Spider detection system and Safrah anti-UAV jamming guns. Traditional air defence weapons have also been pressed into service, including Oerlikon anti-aircraft guns and Anza MANPADS.
