Pakistan Violates Ceasefire, Launches Fresh Airstrikes on Afghanistan

Pakistan

Pakistan has reignited tensions with Afghanistan after launching fresh airstrikes in Paktika province, just hours after both nations agreed to extend a 48-hour ceasefire. According to local sources, Pak forces targeted residential zones in the Argun and Barmal districts along the Durand Line. While no casualties have been officially confirmed, the strikes have sparked strong backlash from Kabul.

Pakistan Violates Ceasefire

A senior Taliban official condemned the attack, declaring, “Pakistan has broken the ceasefire and bombed three locations… Afghanistan will retaliate.” This escalation comes amid ongoing Doha talks aimed at de-escalation.

Earlier this week, Pak reportedly struck the Spin Boldak area in Kandahar, claiming it targeted Taliban brigades. Afghan officials countered that civilian areas were hit, intensifying regional outrage.

Deadly border clashes since October 11 have already claimed lives on both sides. Afghan officials allege 58 Pak soldiers were killed, while Islamabad claims 23 losses and over 200 “terrorists” neutralized. With mutual accusations over militant sanctuaries, the fragile peace now hangs by a thread.
