Pakistan-Afghanistan

Tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan have once again erupted into deadly clashes along their shared border. Over the weekend, Taliban forces claimed responsibility for killing 58 Pakistani soldiers and seizing 25 army posts in overnight operations. They accused Pakistan of violating Afghan territory and airspace with strikes earlier in the week. Pakistan strongly denied these claims, stating its forces only acted to defend against cross-border fire.

The clashes caused heavy losses on both sides. Afghan officials confirmed nine of their soldiers were killed, while 30 Pakistani troops were reported wounded. Fighting broke out in several districts of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, including Chitral, Bajaur, Mohmand, and Kurram. According to Pakistani security sources, troops responded with heavy weaponry against Afghan positions near Nangarhar province.
