A joint operation comprising the Indian Army, J&K Police, and CRPF has successfully neutralised a terrorist under Operation Akhal in the Akhal forest area of Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. Confirmed by the Indian Army on 2nd August 2025, the encounter follows the recent success of Operation Mahadev, in which three terrorists linked to the Pahalgam attack were eliminated.

Operation Akhal Update
Authorities emphasise the mission is not over; efforts to dismantle remaining terror networks in the region continue to reinstate peace in the territory. The search began on Friday evening after credible intelligence identified the presence of terrorists in the dense forest.
