New GST Rate 2025: Full List of Items with Revised Tax Rates Released by Finance Minister

New GST Rate

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier promised a Diwali gift for the people of India, which has now been delivered through the introduction of Next-Gen GST Reforms. First announced on the 79th Independence Day in 2025 and later approved during the 56th GST Council meeting chaired by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, the new GST rate structure provides relief on daily essentials, healthcare, education, agriculture, automobiles, and electronic appliances.

The reforms focus on simplifying the tax system, rationalising GST rates, correcting inverted duty structures, and widening exemptions for essential services. Citizens, farmers, MSMEs, and small businesses are expected to benefit, while the overall economy will see reduced costs and improved compliance. According to the PIB, the new GST rate changes for goods and services will take effect on 22nd September 2025.
