The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has directed Mumbai Police to register a case against actor Ranbir Kapoor and the producers of The Ba**ds of Bollywood for allegedly promoting e-cigarettes. A complaint stated that Kapoor smoked an e-cigarette on screen without warnings, potentially influencing young viewers. The NHRC noted that the act violates the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act, 2019.

Mumbai Police have been asked to investigate the manufacturers and importers of the e-cigarettes shown. The commission also sent a notice to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to block such content. Authorities have two weeks to submit an action report. The Ba**ds of Bollywood, directed by Aryan Khan, is currently streaming on Netflix.
