Indian star pacer Mohammed Shami has now been ordered by the Calcutta High Court to pay Rs 4 lakh to his estranged wife, Hasin Jahan. Shami has been ordered to pay Rs 1.5 lakh per month for his ex-wife’s expenses and Rs 2.5 lakh for his daughter’s care and education. This ruling follows Jahan’s appeal against a 2018 verdict by the Alipore Court in Kolkata, which had mandated that Shami pay her Rs 50,000 per month, along with an additional Rs 80,000 for their daughter’s upkeep.
Mohammed Shami to pay Rs 4 lakh alimony
Justice Mukherjee, in his ruling, also said that Mohammed Shami can always give more funds to his daughter apart from the sum ordered by the court. The court also questioned the Alipore Court’s decision and questioned why they didn’t demand that Shami pay more to his wife, since it was reported that his annual income was Rs 7.19 crore in 2021. Shami’s ex-wife had previously demanded that the pacer pay a total of Rs 10 lakh, comprising Rs 7 lakh for her expenses and Rs 3 lakh for their daughter; however, this demand was dismissed by the court.
