Football fans worldwide were left shocked after the sudden loss of Diogo Jota, the Liverpool and Portugal forward. The Liverpool footballer tragically passed away at age 28 in a car accident in northern Spain. The crash occurred on the A-52 near Cernadilla, just two weeks after Jota’s wedding to long-time partner Rute Cardoso.

Local authorities in a statement confirmed that Jota was driving a Lamborghini and suffered a tyre blowout while overtaking, causing the car to veer off the road, flip, and burst into flames. His younger brother, Andre Silva, 26, also a professional footballer, was with him. Both men died on the spot. Emergency services responded swiftly but were unable to save them. The shocking incident took place in the early hours of Thursday morning. Jota had recently celebrated his wedding on June 22 in Porto, calling himself “the luckiest man in the world.” His final Instagram post, shared just a day earlier, now stands as a heartbreaking farewell.
