Kapil Sharma has been embroiled in a controversy after the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) objected to the use of the word “Bombay” or “Bambai” in his Netflix show, The Great Indian Kapil Show. MNS spokesperson Amey Khopkar shared a clip of Shilpa Shetty and Shamita Shetty, along with Huma Qureshi and Saqib Saleem, mentioning the old name of Mumbai. Khopkar called it derogatory and reminded people that the city was officially renamed Mumbai in 1995.
Kapil Sharma Faces Warning
Issuing a stern warning, he urged Kapil and Netflix to ensure that celebrities and anchors respect the official name. He also cautioned that failure to do so could lead to agitation. Kapil, meanwhile, continues hosting the third season of his hit Netflix series, which brings celebrities together for light-hearted conversations. Featuring Archana Puran Singh, Sunil Grover, and Kiku Sharda, the show has been a fan favourite since its launch in 2024.
