Italy have made history by qualifying for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. This is the first time the Italy’s Men Cricket team will play in an ICC World Cup. Even though they lost to the Netherlands in their last match, they went through because of a better net run rate. The T20 World Cup is set to take place in India and Sri Lanka in 2026. Italy’s strong performance in the group helped them finish in the top two and book their place.
Italy qualified despite losing the Final Match
On July 11, Italy lost to the Netherlands by 9 wickets at the Hague. But their earlier wins and better net runs rate helped them stay ahead of Jersey. Jersey also beat Scotland and finished with the same number of points as Italy. Still, Italy’s run rate was higher, which gave them the second spot and a ticket to the T20 World Cup. The Netherlands also qualified, while Jersey missed out. It’s a proud moment for Italy’s Men Cricket Team.
