Changoiwala has approached legal authorities, stating that the film goes beyond inspiration and mirrors key creative elements of her book. She has issued a legal notice and begun mandatory mediation before filing a commercial suit. The author is seeking restrictions on the film’s distribution, changes to its title, and financial compensation. Dharma Productions has responded, stating that the matter is being addressed through proper legal channels.
