Lucknow Super Giants’ bowler Digvesh Rathi has been suspended for one match. He was also fined 50% of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 19 in Lucknow. The incident took place after Rathi dismissed Abhishek Sharma.
Trouble for Digvesh Rathi
He gave a heated send-off with his signature “book-signing” gesture, sparking a verbal exchange. Umpires and teammates had to step in. This was Rathi’s third Level 1 offence under Article 2.5 this season. He received two new demerit points, taking his total to five. He had earlier picked up one demerit point against Punjab Kings and two more against Mumbai Indians.
As per IPL rules, Rathi will miss LSG’s next match against Gujarat Titans on May 22. LSG are already out of playoff contention after losing to SRH. Abhishek Sharma was also penalised. He received his first demerit point and a 25% match-fee deduction for his part in the incident.
