Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan has reportedly been dropped from the commentary panel for season 18 of the Indian Premier League. He was a regular expert on Star Sports for many years, but will not be part of IPL 2025.
Irfan Pathan’s Removal
Sources claim the decision stems from concerns that Pathan brought personal grudges into his commentary, both on-air and on his social media accounts. According to sources, the 40-year-old had a fallout with a few players years ago and has not refrained from making aggressive comments about them. The issue was raised that junior players got caught in the crossfire. He has been accused of indirectly targeting them on social media, even when he didn’t name them.

Pathan launched his YouTube channel, ‘Seedhi Baat With Irfan Pathan’ on March 22, the same day IPL 2025 began with a match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
