Beginning January 1, 2025, giving money to beggars in Indore may land you in legal jeopardy. The city administration has announced that anyone distributing charity will face an FIR against them. Indore, known for its clean streets and progressive initiatives, is cracking down on begging in public settings.
The official’s statement
District Collector Ashish Singh said, “Our awareness campaign against begging will continue in the city till the end of this month (December). If any person is found giving alms from January 1, an First Information Report (FIR) will also be registered against him/her. I appeal to all residents of Indore not to become partners in the sin by giving alms to people”.
