IndiGo’s flight problems continued for the eighth day on Tuesday, prompting the aviation ministry to reduce the airline’s operations by 10%. The airline must still fly to all its usual destinations. Major cities such as Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai saw the highest number of cancellations. Since last week, nearly 5,000 flights have been cancelled, causing long waits and frustration among passengers.
Cancellations Across Major Cities
IndiGo cancelled several flights again on Tuesday, with Delhi and Bengaluru worst affected. The main reason for the disruption is the airline’s struggle to comply with new pilot duty rules due to the shortage of pilots. To manage the situation, the DGCA temporarily relaxed certain pilot work-hour regulations. The government stated that the issue arose due to internal planning problems within the airline.
